Natural Edge Petrified Wood Serving Board
This one-of-a-kind serving board is made from Indonesian Petrified Wood that is millions of years old!
In the late Tertiary period, blankets of rainforest surrounding volcanoes were plentiful throughout Indonesia. After volcanic eruption these trees were buried by ash and lava. Over thousands of years, the wood was eventually replaced with silica rich minerals such as chalcedony, quartz, calcite, opal and jasper. The beautiful colors in the wood come from assorted trace elements. Traces of manganese create blue and black colors and traces of iron result in different shades of brown and orange.
This stunning piece can be used as a charcuterie board, cheese board or serving platter (cheese knives not included). Slab is polished on both sides and has been treated with a food-safe wax.
